Via ferrata and climbing

A via ferrata (metal climbing path) is artificially created on a rock face using different tools and equipment (metal ropes, bridges, walkways, ladders, etc.) to facilitate the climb on a hiking/mountaineering route. Climbing is done partly on the rock and partly using the aforementioned metal equipment, with the metal rope that allows to be secured to it throughout the route.
Sport climbing is practiced on a rock face along routes prepared with fixed or mobile material that allows for belaying through the use of a rope.
The risks are therefore those of mountaineering activities and climbers in general. Canyon Adventures provides all the necessary technical equipment.
The duration of the via ferrata excursions offered to the general public by Canyon Adventures is approximately 2 to 5 hours. Different levels of difficulty are foreseen. In general, good physical condition is required and having a head for heights.

The following personal equipment is provided by the organization for the via ferrata and climbing:

  • harness
  • helmet
  • brake and carabiners for the via ferrata
  • climbing shoes (if required) for climbing

Each participant is required to bring the following personal items:

  • a pair of sneakers for the approach (sandals are not allowed)
  • comfortable clothing suitable for the season
  • an optional backpack with drinks and a change of clothing

Risk policy for potential dangerous sport activity

Every participant must follow the instructions given by the guides, avoiding any personal initiative and cooperating when requested. The guides are entitled to postpone, suspend or change the excursions in case of bad weather or any other situation threatening the safety of the participants. The guides are also free to decide about any participants’ fitness. During the transfer in the Canyon Adventures’ coaches you must fasten your seat-belts. Canyon Adventures won’t be held responsible for fines. Both approach and climbing are done by every participant independently under his own control and responsibility.
